There’s something magical about unwrapping a handmade ornament, that moment when the light catches a swirl of color, a bit of sparkle, the depth where different colors of ink mix. You realize that with Alcohol Ink, no two pieces could ever be the same. For me, that’s the heart of this year’s Alcohol Ink Ornament Collection — a celebration of individuality, color, and the simple joy of creating something that makes people smile every holiday season.

Where It All Begins

Each ornament starts as a clear glass globe — a completely blank canvas. I use a variety of alcohol inks, metallics, and blending solutions to create organic patterns that flow and mix on their own. It’s a process that’s part science, part intuition and honestly a little bit of luck. You guide the ink, but you never fully control it. That unpredictability is what makes every ornament unique.

Once I’m happy with the color flow, I back the ornament with white paint to make the colors pop and finish with a layer of silver or gold glitter. Every piece is painted from start to finish on the inside. Each ornament is wrapped carefully for travel and boxed for gifting — ready to become part of someone’s holiday tradition.

This year, I drew inspiration from the natural winter palette — cool greens, turquoise blues, and soft lilacs balanced by warm metallic tones.

A few of my favorite combinations (created using Ranger alcohol inks):

Evergreen Mist: [Monsoon], [Willow], [Caramel], [Teakwood], and [Silver Glitter] combine to evoke mossy green, fresh white, and subtle golden warmth for a rustic, natural vibe.

Winter Lagoon: A mix of [Turquoise], [Glacier], and [Sailboat Blue] — a deep turquoise and ocean blue blend with shimmering silver highlights.

Frosted Plum: Shades of [Purple Twilight], [Amethyst], [Cosmopolitan}, and [Boysenberry], layered to create soft violet, rose, and silver tones with a hint of sparkle.

These Alcohol Ink colors are available from Ranger Ink here.

Each ornament feels like a small piece of art — and that’s exactly how I want them to feel when they’re hanging on your tree.

So many people tell me they buy one for themselves and one to gift. I love that! Every ornament comes carefully packaged in a black gift box, so it’s presentation-ready right out of the mail. They make thoughtful hostess gifts, unique holiday keepsakes, and special additions to your own tree.

Handmade gifts carry a certain kind of warmth — they remind us that someone took the time to make something with care and intention. That’s the feeling I hope each ornament brings.

As the holidays approach, I’m reminded why I love this season — it’s about slowing down, adding beauty to our surroundings, and sharing it with others. If you’re looking for a meaningful gift or something special to add to your décor, I invite you to browse the collection — each piece is one of a kind and made with heart.
